Boldmere Falcons U8's Win The Colron Invitational 2009 Football tournament at Sutton Coldfield Town FC
Paget Sports former assistant manager Simon Mellor is now coach at Boldmere Falcons U8's. His team enjoyed a great day out at Sutton Coldfield Town FC
Boldmere Falcons U8s were triumphant against all odds in winning the Colron 2009 Invitational tournament which was played at Sutton Town FC on Sunday 25th April 2009.
After being well beaten in the first game by Beacon Colts who included no less than 3 signed very talented Aston Villa players in their line up Boldmere Falcons bounced back in incredible style by beating Sutton Utd,Rugeley Rangers and Holly Lane. In the last group match against Holly Lane Boldmere Falcons scored 3 times in the final 2 minutes to come from 3 - 1 behind to earn an unlikely semi final spot.
The semi final was another close game with Boldmere falcons again leaving it late to snatch a deserved 2 - 1 victory at the death over tournament hosts Colron Boys.
The final was expected to be a one way affair with Boldmere Falcons again up against a classy Beacon Colts team who had up to this match steam rollered every team in their path.
However as we all know "football is a funny old game" and it was Boldmere Falcons who powered to an unlikely but thoroughly deserved 4 - 0 victory.

Message From Simon Mellor
As we are about to embark on a new season I would like to welcome all the new players that have signed for the 2008 -2009 season.
As a club we have had a difficult summer, and have lost many familiar faces that have been with us for longer than I can remember. I would like to say a personal thank you to those players that have moved on to pastures new, and wish you all the best at your new clubs. Look back with pride and never forget where your dedication and hard work has helped to take this club.
I would also like to say a big thank you to Andy Todd Snr who has decided to step down from his Assistant Manager's role. Andy's experience and knowledge of the game will be sadly missed and not easily replaced.
For those of us that remain, and for the new players that have signed, this is an exciting new era for the club and we must all strive to progress and keep improving. Our aim is to make Paget Sports an established and respected Premier Division side. No doubt it will be a tough tough task, as it will be the first season at this level for a number of our players, but I am confident that alongside the talented players that we already have, and with the quality and experience that Bucko has managed to add to the squad, we will be again there or there abouts at the end of the season.
It just leaves me to wish you all the best of luck for the new season. All I would ask is for all of you to be committed to our cause, work hard and to stay focused on what we want to achieve.
I look forward to working with all in training and hope you enjoy our sessions.
Keep Right On !!
Simon.

Message From Simon Mellor
Since the Christmas break I think that we all would agree that results and especially performances have been a disappointment to us all.
During a season it is inevitable that a team no matter who they are goes through a sticky patch. At the moment we are having one of those periods where we are struggling for whatever reason to meet all our high expectation levels.
I fully understand that as well as the management of the football club you the players are also hurting by recent performances and the criticism you have received.
It is important for us all to remember that in times like these be it management or players we must all take responsibility for our performances and work hard to put it right as soon as possible
There is a long way to go to the end of the season and a lot to play for so lets not throw all our hard work to date down the pan because of a couple of poor performances.
It is important that we all get back to enjoying the football and concentrate in getting that smile back on your faces. That combined with a good work ethic and keeping things simple then im sure in no time we can get back to winning ways quickly.
You are a very talented bunch of football players who teams have the most utmost of respect for and are still amongst the favourites for promotion.
I do not need to remind you that you have a fantastic management set up with Bucko, Andy and Deka. If any player has any problems or concerns then do not hesitate in contacting them. If you feel that you can not speak to them by all means give me a call.
